Experience

She has worked as a social worker in Detroit, Kalamazoo and Lansing at hospitals, hospice, and in private agencies. She brings over 20 years experience of working with people of all ages. She has been the director of social work and a program manager for Ingham Medical Center. Laurie is a writer of over 100 articles on social issues and is a speaker on humor, forgiveness, overcoming depression and anxiety and popular with women's groups. She is considered a Christian counselor and brings those values to therapy situations. She has conducted groups for adults who were recently divorced or diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder. She has also conducted groups for women with depression and anxiety.

Education

Laurie Snyman received her bachelors in social services at Pacific Union College in Angwin California. She obtained a master's degree in Social Work from Wayne State University in 1986.

Statement

Laurie enjoys helping people become what God sees them as, valuable and with His help, making safe, healthy and wholesome choices for emotional stability. She believes clients respond well to a therapist who is kind and compassionate so they can make the best progress. Laurie is able to integrate the teachings of the scriptures into everyday life and issues of physical, mental, and emotional health.

Biography

Laurie has been a private therapist since 1996 and has been at the south Lansing location since 2001. She has been married 30 years to a pastor and has one married daughter, Kristen, who recently graduated with a doctorate in Physical Therapy.
